Error description

  • When saving data to variable using Process Inspector via the
Process Admin Console, if a very lengthy input is used, i.e.
90000 character length, the browser displays the following
message: "Error: The data could not be saved." This issue is
typically seen when IBM IHS is installed.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
When editing active instance data from within the Process
Admin Console, if any fields of data are modified to contain
extremely large sizes of data, for example, data of character
lengths over 90k, the customer is unable to save the changes.
Instead, an error message appears in the Web browser:
"Error: The data could not be saved."
The customer has a need to save very large sized
information/comments without character length restrictions as
    their data size is unpredictable.
The cause of the issue is the use of http GET method. Since it
is GET method, instance data were getting attached to the URL
resulting in violating URL max character limit

Problem conclusion

  • The fix was simply to change the use of GET method to POST and
put the instance data in the body of http packets instead. A
fix is available that identifies process elements with tokens
that are at risk of being orphaned when a BPD is deleted. On
    Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), search

readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for
additional installation instructions and information about the
    fix.
