    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The Process Center artifact-indexing *
    * function leaves files open. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    By default the Process Center artifact-indexing function
    checks every 60 seconds whether changes were made to the
    repository and, if so, updates the Lucene index with the
    changes. When the Lucene index is changed, a new Lucene index
    reader must be created so that artifact searches return the
    most up-to-date results. However, the code that creates the
    new index reader does not close the previous index reader,
    resulting in an accumulation of open files.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available that causes the artifact-indexing function
    to close previous Lucene index readers when updates to the
    repository are detected.
