JR47686: FILE SYSTEM FILLS UP WITH TEMPORARY FILES AFTER RUNNING IMPORT/EXPORT.

APAR status

Error description

  • Customer's temporary directory is getting full due to process
    application traces left inside the local file system after the
    export/import completes.
    

Local fix

  • Delete the files manually from operating sysem temp folder.
    

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED:  IBM Business Process Manager                *
    *                  administrators, process modelers, and       *
    *                  testers who import, export, or install      *
    *                  process application or toolkit snapshots.   *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The temporary directory becomes full    *
    *                      because trace files are left inside     *
    *                      the local file system after import,     *
    *                      export, and install operations are      *
    *                      completed. During the import, export,   *
    *                      or install operations, each snapshot    *
    *                      is extracted to the temporary folder    *
    *                      and the contents are parsed. After      *
    *                      the import, export or install           *
    *                      operation are completed, the            *
    *                      temporary content remains on the file   *
    *                      system.  On Linux machine, the          *
    *                      temporary folder is  /tmp.
    *                      Windows machine, the temporary folder   *
    *                      is the same as %TEMP% system variable   *
    *                      defined.                                *

    IBM BPM does not remove temporary content after a snapshot has
    been imported, exported, or installed.
    

Problem conclusion

  • With the fix installed, all files that are created during the
    import, export, or install operations are removed when the
    operation is completed.
    
    FIX AVAILABILITY:
    A fix for IBM BPM V8.0.1.0 is available on Fix Central:
    http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral. After you select the
    product group, product, installed version, and platform, click
    Continue and then select APAR or SPR, enter JR47686, and click
    Continue.
    
    When downloading fix packages, ensure that you also download
    the readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for
    additional installation instructions and information about the
    fix.
    

Temporary fix

  • When the IBM BPM server is stopped, delete files from the
    temporary folder manually or by using a scheduled task.
