Error description

  • When trying to create a Coach View with a business data variable
of type map, the following error occurs when binding a map to an
instance of the coach view on the coach:

ERROR : No coach resource with virtual name CoachDesignerHTML

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The use of Maps in coaches will cause an unexpected exception
during codegen, and result in an empty coach page.

    USER AFFECTED:
Business Process Manager Advanced, Standard and Express.

    PROBLEM DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
Maps are not supported in general. (i.e. model/runtime/codegen).
Users would have no way to know this, hence they could
model/bind a CoachView to a map. If they ever tried to generate
the coach, issues would definitely surface. The fix, in this
case, is to tolerate Maps during codegen such that the remainder
of the coach is in tact. This fix does not address the runtime
issues. The runtime issues are limitation, and NameValuePairs
    are suggested as the workaround.

Problem conclusion

  • Partially fixed - though Maps are still not supported, and
should be avoided. This will be noted in Information Center,
    http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/dmndhelp/v8r0m1/topic/com.ibm.
    wbpm.wle.editor.doc/buildcoach/topics/tcreatingviews.html ,

Restriction: To avoid errors with binding a map to an instance
of the Coach View, use a list (array) of NameValuePair instead
of a business data variable with the map type. This ensures that
the variable and its properties are all typed, and can be
    understood by the server.
