APAR status

Error description

• The dataload utility and catalog upload feature make use of the
  ID resolver cache.  When the ID resolver cache is full, the
  logic resolves the ID directly from the database.  However, the
  Oracle database may not rebuild the table's index automatically
  after loading many rows into the table, so it becomes very slow
  until the index is rebuilt.

• USERS AFFECTED:
  WebSphere Commerce users with Oracle database using the dataload
  utility or catalog upload feature.
  
  PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
  The dataload utility and catalog upload feature slow down
  dramatically when the ID resolver cache is full when using an
  Oracle database.  The index is not rebuilt automatically by the
  database, so the queries are slower.
  
  BUSINESS IMPACT:
  The dataload utility and catalog upload feature may become slow
  when a large number of entries are being loaded, exceeding the
  allocated size for the ID resolver cache, causing delays in
  loading the data.  The storefront performance is not affected by
  this issue.
  
  RECOMMENDATION:
  

Problem conclusion

• The ID resolver logic is updated to issue statements to update
  the table index statistics (analyze table xxx compute
  statistics) when the cache becomes full, so that the performance
  for the direct queries will be faster.
