JR45233: CMVC 224752 - TO UPDATE BASEPATH IN SRCHCONFEXT AFTER RUNNING THE WEB CRAWLER

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The Web crawler writes files to be indexed to the path
  identified by basePath. basePath is required in
  SRCHCONFEXT.CONFIG so that buildindex and locate and index the
  crawler files. Even though database properties are passed to the
  crawler command, basePath is not updated in the database.
  

Local fix

• Manually update the basePath value in SRCHCONFEXT.CONFIG.
  

Problem summary

• USERS AFFECTED:
  All WebSphere Commerce users using the crawler to index static
  Web content into Solr search.
  
  PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
  The basePath value in SRCHCONFEXT.CONFIG is not updated after
  running the Web crawler, so buildindex cannot index the output
  files.
  
  BUSINESS IMPACT:
  Static Web content is not indexed as expected.
  
  RECOMMENDATION:
  

Problem conclusion

• The old logic is basing on the existing basePath and storeId
  value in SRCHCONFEXT.CONFIG to update the corresponding
  basePath.
  When there is no existing basePath or storeId, the update will
  not be executed.
  The fix enhanced the logic:
  If basePath and storeId both exists, keep the old logic to
  update them.
  If basePath or storeId does not exist, build up the basePath and
  storeId value, then update/override the basePath and storeId
  value in SRCHCONFEXT.CONFIG.
