Error description

• Data are getting truncated when fetching UTF-8 multibyte data
  from varchar column on Server job ODBC stage on Greenplum
  database.

Problem summary

• When fetching UTF-8 multibyte data from Char and VarChar columns
  using the ODBC stage on the server canvas, truncation can occur
  on Greenplum and PostgreSQL sources.
  

Problem conclusion

• Prevent truncation when reading and writing Char and VarChar
  column data on Greenplum and PostgreSQL by using the
  DSE_ODBC_PREVENT_TRUNCATION environment variable.  The following
  are settings are needed to avoid truncation on Greenplum,
  PostgreSQL, or both, respectively.
  
  DSE_ODBC_PREVENT_TRUNCATION=Greenplum
  DSE_ODBC_PREVENT_TRUNCATION=PostgreSQL
  DSE_ODBC_PREVENT_TRUNCATION=Greenplum:PostgreSQL
  
  The environment variable can be set for all of DataStage by
  adding it to $DSHOME/dsenv, on a project basis through the
  Administrator, or just for a particular job with the addition of
  a Before-job subroutine using ExecTCL to run
  
  ENV SET DSE_ODBC_PREVENT_TRUNCATION=<dbms name>.
