JR43894: AFTER DUE DATE TIMER THROWS ERROR ON EXTERNAL IMPLEMENTATION TASKS

APAR status

Error description

  • The customer is has attached an after due date timer to a task
    with an external implementation.  When trying to run the task
    an error appears with the following message
    
    "The event is not attached to a task service.  You can not use
    due date for setting timer."
    

Local fix

  • L3 suggested the following work around:
    
    This involves setting a timer to trigger using "after start of
    step".  This trigger would need to be the sum of what was set
    previously via the tasks "Due in" and the timers "Before/After
    Difference".  A screen shot is provided on ecurep under
    support_files.  For example, if the task was due in 1 minute,
    and an 'After Due Date' timer is set with a 1 minute
    'Before/After Difference' then the new timer should use an
    'After Start of Step' value of 2 minutes.
    

Problem summary

  • When a BPD is modeled by using the process designer and the BPD
    contains a timer event which is attached to a task with an
    external implementation AND the timer event is configured to be
    triggered
    after the due date of the task then an error message is
    displayed when an instance of the BPD is started. The error
    message is "The event is not attached to a task service. You can
    not use due
    date for setting timer". This error is resolved with this fix.
