Error description

  • If a task does not have a due date, then task details cannot
    be displayed using the My Tasks view in Process Portal.  Also,
    if there are a mix of tasks with and without due dates, then
    viewing details of a task with a due date could lead to
    details for that task being displayed for a subsequent task
    that does not have a due date.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using the My Tasks view in         *
    *                      Process Portal, tasks without due       *
    *                      dates can cause problems displaying     *
    *                      task details.  If a task does not       *
    *                      have a due date, then no details        *
    *                      about the task will be displayed.  If   *
    *                      attempting to view details of a task    *
    *                      without a due date after viewing        *
    *                      details of a task with a due date,      *
    *                      then the details of the task with the   *
    *                      due date will be displayed instead of   *
    *                      the details of the task without the     *
    *                      due date.                               *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

    A task without a due date resulted in a null pointer.  When
    the null pointer was passed to a REST service, then the REST
    service returned an error.  Since the REST service returned an
    error, no details about a task without a due date could be
    displayed.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A JavaScript file in the Process Portal application and REST
    service classes were modified to avoid a null pointer and
    handle the case of no due date for a task.  As a result, task
    details can be displayed for tasks without due dates.  Details
    of tasks without due dates also display correctly after a task
    with a due date has been displayed.
    
    An IBM Business Process Manager 8.0.0.0 interim fix for
    JR43689 is available from Fix Central.  Fix application
    instructions are also available when obtaining the interim fix
    from Fix Central.
