Error description

  • A data integrity failure prevention fix included in DB2 Version
9.7 Fix Pack 5 via APAR IC78482 may cause database schema
creation for a new installation or upgrade of WebSphere Commerce
V7.0 to 7.0.0.2 or later, to fail.

This can occur if following conditions are satisfied:
    - The database installed for use with WebSphere Commerce is DB2
Version 9.7 Fix Pack 5 or later
    - WebSphere Commerce V7.0 is being installed or an existing
installation of WebSphere Commerce V7.0 is being upgraded to
    WebSphere Commerce V7.0.0.2 or later
    - The updatedb.log file in the WebSphere Commerce instance log
directory contains an error message similar to the one below:
DB21034E The command was processed as an SQL statement
because it was not a valid Command Line Processor command.
    During SQL processing it returned:
SQL0478N DROP, ALTER, TRANSFER OWNERSHIP or REVOKE on
    object type "COLUMN"
cannot be processed because there is an object
"WCS.ATCHAST.UP_ATCHASTPATH", of type "GENERATED COLUMN", which
    depends on it. SQLSTATE=42893

Local fix

  • Downgrade the installed version of DB2 to Version 9.7 Fix Pack 4
until WebSphere Commerce installation or FixPack upgrade is
complete and then upgrade DB2 back to Version 9.7 Fix Pack 5

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
New installations of WebSphere Commerce V7.0 at 7.0.0.2 or later
or WebSphere Commerce users operating at V7.0 or 7.0.0.1 who
intend to upgrade to WebSphere Commerce V7.0.0.2 or later with
DB2 V9.7 Fix Pack 5 (or later) installed

    PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
Database schema creation may fail on DB2 V9.7 Fix Pack 5 (or
later) during installation or upgrade to WebSphere Commerce
    V7.0.0.2 (or later)

    BUSINESS IMPACT:
WebSphere Commerce V7.0 database schema creation may fail during
a new installation or during upgrade from WebSphere Commerce
    V7.0 or 7.0.0.1 to 7.0.0.2 or later with DB2 V9.7 Fix Pack 5 (or
    later) installed

    RECOMMENDATION:

Problem conclusion

  • This fix alleviates the restriction put in place by the
installed version of DB2 by re-instrumenting WebSphere Commerce
V7.0.0.2 and later database schema creation scripts for table
ATCHAST for correct invocation with all supported releases and
    versions of DB2.
