Error description

  • A Marketing Manager would like to implement the following Dialog
    Activity scenario:
    A number of weeks after a customer has placed an order, send the
    customer an e-mail requesting feedback on the purchased
    products. The e-mail needs to include the details of the order
    that was placed.
    
    In order to implement this scenario, the order ID needs to be
    passed to the e-mail template JSP when the Send Message action
    is reached in the Dialog Activity.

  • USERS AFFECTED:
    WebSphere Commerce users on v7.0 FEP3 using Management Center
    Dialog Activities
    
    PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
    WebSphere Commerce marketing dialog activities do not provide a
    way to pass the order ID to the e-mail template JSP when the
    Send Message action is invoked.
    
    BUSINESS IMPACT:
    Allow Dialog Activities to be able to send an e-mail that
    contains order details for a previous order
    
    RECOMMENDATION:
    

Problem conclusion

  • The marketing code has been enhanced to include the order ID in
    the name-value pairs when invoking the e-mail template JSP. The
    detailed steps of how to implement this scenario are included in
    the APAR Installation Instructions.
    
    The high level steps are:
    1) Update the Customer Places Order trigger to a new definition.
    This requires the V7 FEP3 foundation feature to be enabled.
    2) Create and register an e-mail template JSP. The e-mail
    template JSP can use the ${orderId} variable to look up details
    of the order.
    3) Create and activate a Dialog Activity:
    --> Customer Places Order trigger --> Wait trigger --> Send
    Message action
