Error description

• In Management Center, when linking master catalog catgroups
  (categories) to a sales catalog catgroup, if the catgroup has a
  very large number of catentries (products/skus), the linking
  process can take a very long time and eventually cause a
  connection timeout.

• USERS AFFECTED:
  All users in WebSphere Commerce V7 who use Sales catalogs and
  have catgroups (categories) with a very large number of
  catentries
  
  PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
  In Management Center, linking categories between catalogs can
  timeout if the category has a very large number of catentries.
  
  BUSINESS IMPACT:
  Business users are unable to update the catalog using management
  center
  
  RECOMMENDATION:
  

Problem conclusion

• APAR JR40579 puts the category linking operation into an
  asynchronous process.
  
  Business users can continue to use Management Center after
  linking catalog groups. The link operation will be performed in
  a scheduled job.
  
  Note that this fix will not reduce the time of the lining
  process, but it can free the CMC user from waiting the link
  process to finish.
  Also, only in non-workspace environment, the link process will
  be performed in a scheduled job.
