APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The stagingprop utility may end abnormally if a database
  connection cannot be established due to invalid connection
  information. In such a scenario the utility may not exit with
  the correct return code.
  
  The stagingprop utility might also not exit with the correct
  return code if an unexpected (unhandled) exception is
  encountered during invocation or if the utility is unable to
  allocate additional space on the heap for processing.

  All WebSphere Commerce users on v7.0 utilizing the stagingprop
  utility
  
  PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
  Stagingprop error code provisions for database connection,
  OutOfMemoryError and unhandled exception errors
  
  BUSINESS IMPACT:
  In the event that the stagingprop utility fails without
  returning the correct failure (i.e. non-zero) return code,
  inconsistencies may arise in the behavior of any business
  applications that serve as wrappers for the utility.
  
  RECOMMENDATION:
  

Problem conclusion

• Implementation of catches for general Exception and
  OutOfMemoryError throwables in the main method of stagingprop to
  provide the capability of graceful error exits with a failure
  (non-zero) return code. In addition, a fix is included to
  address a NullPointerException that may be generated when an
  invalid username/password combination is provided to retrieve a
  Connection object.
