Problem summary
. The following Replication Server defect has been fixed in DB2 LUW V9.7 FP3a: . 779178:ASNMON falsely reports QAPPLY server is down . ASNMON falsely reports the status of QAPPLY server as down, when actually it is up. . By design, QAPPLY is multi-threaded and has many agents working at the same time. Every agent will insert a monitor row in the IBMQREP_APPMON table for every MONITOR_INTERVAL. Usually, the differences between monitor_times of records inserted in the same monitor interval are very small - much smaller than one second. In this condition, ASNMON will handle this situation correctly. But sometimes when the QAPPLY server is busy, the time gap between two successive monitor records which are inserted in the same QAPPLY monitor cycle is larger than 1 second. In this condition, ASNMON cannot tell whether the two most recent monitor records were inserted in the same QAPPLY monitor cycle, or in two different monitor cycles. ASNMON deals with them as they are inserted in two different QAPPLY monitor cycles and may choose the time differences between the two monitor_time as the real monitor_interval of QAPPLY. Since this value is usually small, and twice of it is still smaller than the actual QAPPLY monitor_interval, ASNMON can not find any rows in the IBMQREP_APPMON table that in the latest 2 * derived_monitor_interval and falsely reports that the QAPPLY program is down. . The reported problem has been fixed.
