JR36083: ODBC ENTERPRISE JOB ABORTS WITH FAILURE IN OPERATOR LOGIC WHEN BIGINT COLUMN HAS UNSIGNED EXTENDED PROPERTY SET

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Parallel job containing and ODBC Enterprise stage aborts when
  a column with data type BIGINT has the Unsigned extended
  property set. The status Fatal message which appears in the job
  log:
  
  Message:: dbProcessTableLastValue,0: Internal Error: (0):
  odbc_upsert_subop.C: 1332
  
  This issue is reproducible with both Information Server Version
  8.0.1 FP1 and Version 8.1, using SQL Server 2005 as the target
  and using the 5.3 DataDirect ODBC driver.  Problem was
  reproduced on both AIX and Windows platforms using these
  software versions, but may occur in other combinations as well.
  
  There is no warning message logged indicating the type mismatch
  with unsigned.
  

Local fix

• Remove the unsigned extended attribute from the BIGINT column
  (assuming the datatype is not actually unsigned.)
  

Problem summary

  All users of ODBC Enterprise Stage where unsigned extended
  property is set for BIGINT field in the columns tab
  ****************************************************************
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  When BIGINT field contains Unsigned extended property in a ODBC
  EE Write / Update job, the job fails with the following error
  message:
  
  Message:: dbProcessTableLastValue,0: Internal Error: (0):
  odbc_upsert_subop.C: 1332
  
  Which is not meaningful.
  
  ****************************************************************
  RECOMMENDATION:
  Local fix: Remove the "unsigned" extended property from the
  columns tab for the BIGINT field
  
  Apply a latest ODBC EE Patch build time later than 29th March,
  2010
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• Throw a meaningful error message including the field name when
  the datatype/ extended arrtibute is not supported.
