Error description

  • Generally the Information Analyzer GUI is running very slowly
    with some screens taking an average of 5 minutes to come back.
    Client trace indicated that the GUI had invoked the Scheduler
    and did not get a response back for a long time.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
      Generally the Information Analyzer GUI is running very slowly
    
      with some screens taking an average of 5 minutes to come back.
    
      Client trace indicated that the GUI had invoked the Scheduler
    
      and did not get a response back for a long time.

    RECOMMENDATION:
    Install the patch for APAR JR35661.
    
    Enable the scheduling cleanup as described above.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix is to remove an unnecessary call to get all the
    schedules in the
      startup of the scheduling view control.  Also added code
      in the scheduling service to cleanup completed schedules and
      task executions for each user.
    
      NOTE: To enable the scheduling service cleanup add the
    following
      parameter to the isfconfig.properties file located in the
    classes
      directory under the WebSphere profile, then restart
    WebSphere:
    
      # Maximum number of task executions to keep per user ( minimum
    value of 10, -1 indicates unlimited )
      scheduling.max.task.executions=100
    
      In the above example, one hundred jobs will be retained for
    each user.
