JR35254: ORACLE OCI LOAD STAGE FAILS FOR MANUAL MODE WHEN PRODUCING DATA FILE GREATER THAN 2 GB

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Datastage job that creates Oracle bulk load files using Oracle
  OCI Load stage with manual load option aborts when loading
  over 2 GB of data. The job aborts when the created *.dat file
  reaches 2147483647 bytes with the error messages similar to
  the messages listed below:
  
  Failure during execution of operator logic.
  Input 0 consumed 7555633 records.
  Fatal Error: Fatal: Error writing to the file: test.ctl
  
  node_node2: Player 2 terminated unexpectedly.
  main_program: APT_PMsectionLeader(2, node2), player 2 -
  Unexpected exit status 1.
  main_program: Step execution finished with status = FAILED.
  

Local fix

• Split the data and load data files smaller than 2 GB.

  DataStage users who run OCI Load plug-in stage in Manual load
  mode.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  When Oracle OCI Load stage is used in Manual mode to write data
  to a data file instead of loading it directly to the database
  table, and the size of the data file becomes larger than 2 GB,
  the job terminates unexpectedly.
  ****************************************************************
  RECOMMENDATION:
  Install patch JR35254.
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• The stage code was fixed to take advantage of the large file
  support on UNIX/Linux platforms in order to to allow for
  creating of data files with size larger than 2 GB.
