Error description

• problem with the DB2 Bulk Load common connector IS 8.1 with
  Rollup 2 where job aborts with the following SQL error:

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  When a string value is converted to the server encoding the
  length of
  the converted string may exceed the maximum for the column. In
  such a case
  sqlugrpn() fails with SQL6044N.
  ****************************************************************
  RECOMMENDATION:
  Install the patch
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• Fixed-length strings are padded to the right up to their
  specified length.
  When these strings are converted and the converted string is
  longer then
  the max length, it is OK to truncate them if the extra
  characters are all pad
  characters.
  
  Added code to truncate fixed length strings if it is OK and
  throw a truncation
  error in other cases.
