APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The connector is configured to load data to the table, to
enable the constraints after the load has completed and to
reject rows that are in vioIation of the enabled constraints.
In case of a foreign key constraint the connector removes the
rows that have violated the constraint from the table and
enables the constraint but fails to reject the deleted rows
    down the reject link.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
DataStage users loading data to Oracle database with Oracle
    Connector stage.
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The connector is used to load data to a table. The "Write
mode" property is set to value "Bulk load". The connector
stage has reject output link defined. The "SQL error -
constraint violation" condition is enabled for the reject link.

The table has a column that is used as a foreign key referencing
primary key in another table. The connector stage is configured
to disable constraints before the load and enable them after the
load. When enabling the foreign key constraint, the rows that
violate it are supposed to be redirected to the reject link.
However, the rows are not sent to the reject link but are
    deleted from the table.

The problem does not happen with primary key constraints.

    RECOMMENDATION:
    Install the patch (APAR JR35050)

Problem conclusion

  • The connector was fixed to reject rows that violated foreign key
constraints, as well as check constraints, when the connector
is configured to enable the constraints after the data load has
completed and the reject link is configured to reject rows that
    violated the enabled table constraints.
