APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Unable to insert a record into the table due to ORA-01722:
  Nombre non valide
  
  The reason behind this problem is the value of
  NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS.  For territory FRANCE, the decimal point
  character is a comma! (,) not a period (.)
  But DS uses period as the decimal point.  Hence a number with a
  period character inside is flagged as an invalid number.
  
  The operator alters the session to set NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS
  with value '.,'  but some how this is not taking effect.
  

Local fix

• set the environment variable NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS  with value
  '.,'  in the job or project environment
  
  This fix is included in 8.0.1 fixpack 3

Problem conclusion

• Parsing ALTER statement is not working as expected in Oracle
  10.2.0.1. It is found OK in 10.2.0.4. Some Oracle bug.
  This problem is fixed in the code by avoiding the parsing need
  for the program prepared alter statement.
