Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: DataStage users **************************************************************** PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Delete and rename operations in a multi-user environment can fail under certain circumstances without a clear error message to describe why the operation failed. The scenarios where this can occur are: A - Rename when current user has job open 1) Create a table & job 2) Use the table in the job such that a relationship is created 3) With the job open, current user attempts to rename the table (choosing the update jobs option) 4) An error message was produced saying: "Unable to rename the item. Unable to retrieve the details for items <tableDefnID>". B - Rename when another user has job open 1) Create a table & job 2) Use the table in the job such that a relationship is created 3) With the job open by user A, user B attempts to rename the table (choosing either the update jobs or break relationship option) 4) An error message was produced saying: "Unable to rename the item. Unable to retrieve the details for items <tableDefnID>". C - Delete when another user has job open 1) Create a table & job 2) Use the table in the job such that a relationship is created 3) With the job open by user A, user B attempts to delete the table 4) An error message was produced saying: "Unable to delete the item." **************************************************************** RECOMMENDATION: Install patch to get clearer delete and rename error messages. ****************************************************************
