JR34770: CANNOT CREATE NEW PROJECTS WITH NON-DEFAULT SHORT DATE FORMAT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Datastage server using the following short date format
  short date format = ddd dd/MM/yyyy
  
  Will fail to create new projects via the datastage administrator
  clients and the following error will be observed.
  
  "Invalid node name: %1."
  
  Using the short date format = dd/MM/yyyy will create the project
  without errors via the administrator clients.
  

Local fix

• Set the short date format = dd/MM/yyyy

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  Users running DS Admin on systems with customized Regional
  Settings for the Short Date Format caused Project Creation to
  fail with a message "Invalid Node Name %1".
  ****************************************************************
  RECOMMENDATION:
  Resolution was to check the expect "/" characters exist, if
  not, change any spaces to "/".
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• Discovered an error in the VB 6 runtime function "Format"
  which failed in this circumstance to format dates correctly.
