Error description
Datastage server using the following short date format short date format = ddd dd/MM/yyyy Will fail to create new projects via the datastage administrator clients and the following error will be observed. "Invalid node name: %1." Using the short date format = dd/MM/yyyy will create the project without errors via the administrator clients.

Set the short date format = dd/MM/yyyy

Problem conclusion
Discovered an error in the VB 6 runtime function "Format" which failed in this circumstance to format dates correctly.
