APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Job compilation is slow, inconsistant but jobs that sometimes
  take 15secs to compile can take up to 30mins, this is having a
  great effect on the developers productivity.
  
  Issue occurs on IS 8.1 running on RedHat Linux Enterprise Server
  (RHEL 4)
  Customers connect via their own clients, they are not going via
  a Citrix or Remote Desktop connection.
  

Local fix

• Set parameter OSH_BUILDOP_NO_OPTIMIZE to 1

  Compilation for large transforms with a high number of columns
  can cause long compilation times.

  Install patch JR34531.

Problem conclusion

• Added some code generation improvements to transform to reduce
  the final size of transform thus reducing compile time.  Also
  added an option to automatically disable the optimize flag for
  compilation of transforms with mainloops larger than 150,000
  bytes. Added APT_TRANSFORM_DISABLE_OPT_LENGTH to allow for
  tuning this value.
