JR34317: UNABLE TO IMPORT SAME DATASTAGE JOBS AND OBJECTS USING BOTH .ISXAND .DSX FORMATS IN THE SAME PROJECT.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• DataStage jobs should not be imported to the same project using
  .isx and .dsx due possible conflict in temporary objects created
   in the xmeta repository.
  
  istool will fail with error similar to this:
  
  "Unexpected error importing design. See the log in the Web
  Console for more details"
  
  Closer inspection of the Export/Import logs in Web Console
  reveal this error message:
  
  com.ascential.xmeta.exception.data.DuplicateIdentityException:
  2 matches found for object of type
  "http:///1.1/DataStageX.ecoreDSColumnDefinition" with identity
  ":CLASS_ID:Saved\\CLASS\\class::<HostName>:PNET4_DEVINT0<Project
  Name>".
  

Local fix

• only use one of the import formats
  

Problem summary

  DataStage jobs cannot be imported to the same project using
  .isxand .dsx. istool will fail with error similar to this:

           Also, istool fails
  with a SessionLockException when a DataStage job is open in the
  DS Designer, and is imported by another user into another
  project.

  RECOMMENDATION:
  Install patch_JR34317_xmeta_all_8100. This fix is available in
  FP1.

Problem conclusion

• Patch patch_JR34317_xmeta_all_8100 resolves both issues, and
  the import completes successfully without exceptions in the use
  cases that previously failed.  This fix will also be available
  in 8.1 Fix Pack 1.
  

Temporary fix

• patch_JR34317_xmeta_all_8100 has been delivered to the customer.
  This patch resolves both the DuplicateIdentityException issue
  and a SessionLockException issue (see CQ request 179151).
