Error description
In the DataStage job, the column(s) defined have VARCHAR datatype with a length defined. When a message is written to the queue, the data will be padded (left justified) with whatever the current padding character is defined to be. The default padding character is the ascii null byte 0x00, but this can be changed with the APT_STRING_PADCHAR environment variable. This behavior is incorrect for VARCHAR columns. Only fixed length CHAR columns should be padded.
Local fix
There is a workaround in some situations. If it is acceptable within the job design to remove the length specification from the VARCHAR column, this will solve the issue and the data will no longer be padded. This fix is included in 8.0.1 fix pack 3
