Error description

  • Customer wants to use both V8 and V9 clients on the same
    machine.

When customer installs V8 client it creates a IBM.Data.DB2
version 8.1.2.1 assembly in Global assembly cache located at
    /WINDOWS/assembly folder.
Customer then installs V9 client and it creates a IBM.Data.DB2
    version 9.0.0.2 assembly.

Now when customer uninstalls the V9 client both the assemblies
    IBM.Data.DB2 version 8.1.2.1 and IBM.Data.DB2 version 9.0.0.2
gets deleted from the global assembly cache in /WINDOWS/assembly
folder instead of just the V8 assembly.

Local fix

  • The deleted data provider in this case V8 data provider can be
re-deployed by running the db2nmpreg.exe tool.
