Error description

  • Customer used a period in two field names and his XML Output
Stage would not compile. Engineers looked into it and say that
the PX Framework will not handle periods in column names.

The 8.0.1 Designer Client Guide, pg. 34 claims that column names
can be any length, must start with an alphabetic character, and
may contain alphanumeric characters, $, period and underscore.
The 8.1 Designer Client Guide says the same thing on pg. 76.
    The documents should be corrected.

Local fix

  • user can substitute underscore for period

Problem conclusion

  • This has been fixed in the Designer Guide for 8.5 - there are
now separate naming rules for columns in px jobs, and permitted
names do not include period characters.

Temporary fix
