Error description

  • Information Server DataStage Designer clients normally display
stage properties on panels with named propertied fields.
However, when editing a stage user has option on context menu to
display properties using a "grid style" view instead. There is
no menu option to select the non-grid view since that is already
    the default behavior.
                                                                  .
However, under some conditions, all users connecting to a
specific project will begin to default to the grid style stage
property view. Not all stage types have a grid view, but for
those which do this problem can affect any of the stage types,
    including the DB2 API stage.
                                                                   .
This problem occurs due to a bad stage type record from client
cached on server where it can then affect other users. The
issue can be bypassed by deleting entry from stage types file on
server, a client update also exists which can prevent this
    problem.
    (Ecase reference 129824 , e129824).

Local fix

  • When the grid style view incorrectly becomes the default view
for a specific stage type, it is due to a bad record stored in
DS_STAGETYPES for a specific stage type, in a specific project.
                                                                   .
Use the following steps to remove this bad record from the
    server.
    1. Navigate to .../InformationServer/Server/DSEngine directory
    2. Set environment with command: . ./dsenv
    3. Obtain the UV ommand prompt: ./bin/uvsh
    4. Connect to project with problem (project name is case
sensitive) using UV command: LOGTO projectname
    5. Determine stage name that is affected by grid problem. If
you do not know what is the valid stage name, enter the
       following UV command: LIST DS_STAGETYPES
    6. Once the name of problem stage is determined, remove the
stagetype info with command: DELETE DS_STAGETYPES stagename
    7. Exit UV prompt with command: QUIT
