Error description

• After applying patch JR33242_aix_DS752.tar.Z, job
  extracting number column from Oracle fails
  meeting ORA-01406 error.
  With GA version operator, same job with same data runs fine.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  ORA-01406 ERROR IN READING NUMBER COLUMN BY ORACLE ENTERPRISE

  This problem occurs as we read a NUMBER column defined without
  precision and scale associated with it.
  We read as (38,10) but as fraction has large no. of leading
  zeros causing the truncation error.

  Apply the patch provided.
  This change is included in 8.1 Fix Pack 1.

Problem conclusion

• This problem can be cured by using a real large bind buffer to
  read.
  But user's version of the read value can still suffer unless
  user overrides defaults with APT_ORA_DEFAULT_NUMBER_FORMAT
