JR34040: VIEW DATA EXECUTES BEFORE SQL (NODE) AND AFTER SQL (NODE) STATEMENTS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The Oracle Connector stage is configured to run Before SQL
  (node) and After SQL (node) statements on each node at runtime.
  The user clicks on the View data link in the stage dialog, and
  the connector runs the statements specified in Before SQL
  (node) and After SQL (node) properties prior to displaying the
  requested data to the user. The connector should not run these
  statements when the user clicks on View data in the stage
  dialog.
  

Local fix

• Temporarily remove Before SQL (node) and After SQL (node)
  property values before clicking on the View data and then
  restore the values after completing the View data operation.
  

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  Oracle Connector users who utilize View data functionality from
  the connector stage dialog in DataStage Designer.
  ****************************************************************
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  If the connector is configured to perform Before SQL (node) and
  After SQL (node) statements (the statements before or after
  processing data on each of the processing nodes at runtime),
  and the user clicks on View data button in the connector stage
  dialog to view the current data in the table, the connector
  would execute the Before SQL (node) and After SQL (node)
  statements in addition to fetching the data to display to the
  user.

  RECOMMENDATION:
  Install Connector Rollup Patch 2 (CCRP2).
  This change is included in 8.1 Fix Pack 1.

Problem conclusion

• The connector was fixed to recognize that it runs in View data
  mode and to ignore the specified Before SQL (node) or After SQL
  (node) statements in that case.
