APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The user uses Oracle connector stage and has the SELECT
statement in a text file. The user specifies the fully
qualifiedfile name in the Select statement property. The
property Read select statement from file is set to Yes. When
the user clicks on View data, the operation fails with the
error message indicating that the provided statement is of
    incorrect type.

Local fix

  • Copy the content of the file to the Select statement property
and set the Read select statement from file property to No.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of Oracle Connector who specify SQL statements in a file
and use View data functionality in the connector stage dialog
toview the current data in the table referenced by the
    statement.
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The user who specifies SQL statement in a file and provides the
file name in the connector properties would receive error after
clicking on View data button to view the current data in the
    table referenced by the statement.
    ****************************************************************
    RECOMMENDATION:
Install Connector Rollup Patch 2 (CCRP2).
This change is included in 8.1 Fix Pack 1.
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • The connector was ignoring the setting which indicates that the
statement property value is not the text of the statement, but
the path to a file which contains the statement text and which
resides on the DataStage Server machine. The connector would
tryto execute the file path text value as a statement which
would result in error indicating that the statement is invalid.
The code in the connector was fixed to take the settings for
statement filename into account and read the contents of
the file to obtain the statement when performing the view
    data operation.
