Error description

  • Import job from Datastage 7.5.2 to IS 8.1- error - Line xxxx:
Mapping failed to copy attributes: JobDefn -> DSJobDef
    (EObject:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, JobDefn).
       Object=Jobname (==your job name)
       Class=Job designs.

Cannot find job (= your job name)

Local fix

  • What happens is that the TableDef line for a link column points
to a table definition whose name is > 255 chars.
    Modify the dsx file manually.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Import of DSX files created from 7.5 DataStage, which contain
references to TableDefinitions with very long names.
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
DSX file fails to import. from Designer See a popup dialog
    contaiing messages like:
Line xxxx: Mapping failed to copy attributes: JobDefn ->
    DSJobDef
    (EObject:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, JobDefn).
    ur job name)
             If you
look in the dstage_wrapper_traceNN.log files, you will see
errors in executing a SQL query, including:
    Target class is 'DataStageX.xmetagen.DSTableDefinition'
    ****************************************************************
    RECOMMENDATION:
    Apply patch: patch_JR34026v2_client_windows_8100.
This change is included in 8.1 Fix Pack 1.
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • Problem is caused by a link column having a reference to a
TableDefinition whose ID is > 255 chars long. This is
ultimatelycaused by a stage type that generates an incorrect
reference (onDataStage 7.5), but the over-long ID string does
not cause a problem until you attempt to import the job on a
version 8 DataStage system. The fix is to ignore these
    erroneous references on import.

Temporary fix
