Error description

  • it appears to be an incompatibility between dscc.exe and its
depependent dlls introduced by FP1 whihc included new versions
    of those dlls.

    Using dscc.exe on IS801 FP1 to provision customer's custom
    ruleset with the command like:
    dscc /h QH10249529 /u admin /p admin
    QHEST_IM_PROD_B15_20090713p2 /qs
    "\Standardization Rules\QHEST\*" /qspa

    causes a java core dump

Local fix

  • This fix is included in 8.0.1 fix pack 3

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Anyone using dscc with muliple selected objects and the /qspa
    option
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
using dscc /qs /qspa resulted in duplicate items being added to
the collection of objects to be provisioned. This caused an
unhandled VB error which then caused a Access Violation error
    inthe C++ code.
    ****************************************************************
    RECOMMENDATION:
    install JR33886
This change is included in 8.1 FP1
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • Fixed VB error handling to prevent the AccessViolation
dscc /qs/qspa also had the annoying behavior of prompting the
user to click on OK after each object had been provisioned so
wefixed this at the same time.
