Error description

  • Job parameter values can be exposed as command line arguments to
the dsjob command line utility. This exposure is a security risk
for many customers. It is possible that this security risk
could result in the customer's inability to comply with HIPPA or
other security requirements. The requested change is a more
secure way to pass job parameters with the dsjob utility that
will not expose the parameter values on the command line.

Local fix

  • work arounds offer to customer but they are unable / unwilling
    to use any of these:
    a) upgrade to IS 8.0.1 and use Parameter Sets
    b) use a job sequencer that reads that parameters from a
protected file and calls the job with them
    c) using the API they could write their own dsjob command.

Problem conclusion

  • Resolution was to add a new option -paramfile to dsjob. The
dsjob -run command can read job parameter values from both file
    and command line.
