JR33655: FAULT OCCURRED IN BASIC PROGRAM DSP.OPEN AT ADDRESS 574 USING ORACLE OCI AND SYBASE OC STAGES WITH NLS ON

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Fault occurred in BASIC program DSP.Open at address 574 was the
  original error message reported.  This happened in some jobs
  that were exported from 7.5.2 to 8.1 and that worked in 7.5.2.
  
  The 8.1 installation also has NLS installed whereas 7.5.2 did
  not.
  
  From the CRM for this issue:
  
  "The problem occurs when the Table Name field is left blank for
  User defined SQL. In this case, if NLS is turned on, since the
  size of the tablename has not been initialised to 0, memcpy for
  a huge number is attempted. This causes the memcpy to fail."
  

Local fix

• apply patch e130672 for the Oracle issue
  apply patch JR33417 for the Sybase issue
  set env var DS_NO_PROCESS_METADATA=1

  The fix has been included in the IS 8.1 FP1. Apply the FixPack1
  for IS 8.1.

Problem conclusion

• SybaseOC was failing with sigsegv when trying to get process
  metadata if the tablename field was left blank for user defined
  SQL.
  
  Modified code to initialise tablename size to 0, so that if
  tablename field is blank, we do not attempt memcpy.
