JR33572: SQL1816N OR SQL1817N ERROR WHEN CREATING A SERVER FOR ODBC WRAPPER IF NOT SPECIFY THE SERVER TYPE TO "ODBC"

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• You will get SQL1816N  or SQL1817N error when creating a server
  for ODBC wrapper if you specify the server TYPE to other string
  which is not "ODBC" or do not specify the TYPE.
  
  For example:
  a. Specify the TYPE to "odbcserver" or other string:
  $ db2 "CREATE SERVER <servername> TYPE odbcserver WRAPPER
  <wrappername>OPTIONS( NODE '<nodename>' ) "
  DB21034E  The command was processed as an SQL statement because
  it was
  not a valid Command Line Processor command.  During SQL
  processing it
  returned: SQL1816N  Wrapper "ODBC" cannot be used to access the
  "TYPE" of data
  source ("ODBCSERVER" "version") that you are trying to define to
  the federated
  database.  SQLSTATE=560AC
  
  b. Do not specify TYPE:
  $ db2 "CREATE SERVER <servername> WRAPPER <wrappername>OPTIONS(
  NODE '<nodename>' ) "
  DB21034E  The command was processed as an SQL statement because
  it was
  not a valid Command Line Processor command.  During SQL
  processing it
  returned: SQL1817N  The CREATE SERVER statement does not
  identify the "TYPE" of
  data source that you want defined to the federated database.
  SQLSTATE=428EU
  
  The TYPE and VERSION for create server to ODBC data source
  should be optional:

Local fix

• Specify the server TYPE to "ODBC"

• Problem was first fixed in Version 9.1 FixPak 9 (s100326 ). This
  fix should be applied on the federation server.
