JR33424: NON-NULL CHAR OR VARCHAR COLUMNS FROM DB2 API LOOKUP STAGE ARE CHANGED TO "0" OR NULL WHEN OUTPUT ALONG WITH SOURCE COLUMNS.

APAR status

Error description

• Site has DataStage "server" job consisting of data source,
  DB2 API lookup stage, and an output file containing combination
  of columns from both the data source and matching row from DB2
  lookup stage which worked correctly.

  After migrating from 7.5 to 8.1, the same server job
  now generates incorrect output.  Numeric columns from
  the DB2 lookupt stage still output correctly, but character
  columns (both CHAR and VARCHAR) containing non-null values now
  output the string "0" instead of correct value, or in come
  cases output a null.

  This problem is limited to the DB2 API stage.  If the lookup is
  performed instead using ODBC stage, the output is correct.

Local fix

• Use ODBC stage in place of DB2 API stage to bypass problem.
