JR33408: DATA TRUNCATED WHEN EXTRACTING FROM DB2 ON MAINFRAME

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Found on DS 8.1 on AIX 5.3 with DB2 9.5 , but can occur on
  other platforms and databases  .
  
  
  Embedded nulls in UTF-8 strings we being incorrectly interpreted
  as string terminators.
  This caused truncation of multibyte information.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  All DataStage 8.1 data conversions of UTF_8 strings are
  effected.
  ****************************************************************
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  Null bytes contained in UTF-8 data (multi-byte character data)
  were being interpreted as string terminators. This lead to
  strings being truncated unexpectedly.
  ****************************************************************
  RECOMMENDATION:
  Install Patch JR33408
  This fix is included in 81 FP1

Problem conclusion

• The code change correctly interprets nulls in UTF-8 data.
