JR33402: WOULD LIKE TO INCREASE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE ODBC STAGE. THIS EFFECTING PERFORMANCE WHEN USING A REJECT LINK.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Requesting that the odbc stage have improved performance. This
  is effecting upsert for inserting data into a db2 database. If a
  reject link is included it causes the job to run much slower.
  Also is necessary to set insert array size set to 1.

  All platforms jobs using ODBC Upsert in mode insert only, with

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  ODBC upsert in mode insert only, with reject link was inserting
  records 1 at a time. This was resulting in the job appearing to
  hang.
  ****************************************************************
  RECOMMENDATION:
  Install patch for JR33402
  The fix has been included in the IS 8.1 FP1. Apply the FixPack1
  for IS 8.1.

Problem conclusion

• Re-implemented insert only with reject link logic to use
  SQL_ATTR_PARAM_STATUS_PTR and SQL_ATTR_PARAMS_PROCESSED_PTR.
  When this is done, arrays of parameters can be inserted and the
  status of each row can be determined to find out if the row is
  to be rejected.
  
  Only upsertmode insert only with reject link will see a
  performance boost. All other modes are unaffected by this
  change.
