Error description

  • Linux or UNIX The path shown in this command assumes that the
    product
is installed in the default location and uses the default
    WebSphere
    Application Server profile.

Your path will vary if you installed IBM Information Server in a
different location or used a different profile.

    /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/default/bin/startServer.sh
    -username <WAS_Username> -password <WAS_Password>

I needed to add the server1 parameter for the script to work.
    ex:
    opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/default/bin/startServer.sh
    server1 -username <WAS_Username> -password <WAS_Password>.

    Information Server 8.1
    AIX

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
startServer.sh example was missing server1 as a parameter
    ****************************************************************
    RECOMMENDATION:
Run the script this way for 8.1

    /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/default/bin/startServer.sh
    server1

    or

    /opt/IBM/InformationServer/ASBServer/bin/MetadataServer.sh run
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • Will be fixed in 8.5... well, actually the instructions are
changing for 8.5 to use the MetadataServer.sh script

Temporary fix
