Error description

• Problem Description:
  DB2 EXTENDED SECURITY can be configured during DB2
  installation, or by running the
  db2extsec.exe with parameters. If the Group Name provided to
  db2extsec.exe contains a character '.',
  db2extsec will fail.
  For example: During install of DB2:
  On the extended security panel,  select to enable extended
  security and changed the default group names
  to aa.bb and bb.aa.  ( a name with a . in between )
  Install will complete, but in the Install Log file, the
  following error will be present:
  1: ERROR:DB2EXTSEC: The network path was not found.
  For example:Run the following db2extsec.exe command:
  db2extsec -a aa.bb -u bb.aa
  DB2EXTSEC: The network path was not found.
  

Local fix

• 1. Do not use the character '.' in the group name.
  or
  2.Fully qualify the group name when running the db2extsec.exe
  For example:
  db2extsec -a  mycomp\aa.bb -u mycomp\bb.aa
  **where mycomp is the name of the local computer name**

Problem conclusion

• DB2 V91FP8 will contain a fix for this problem. With this fix,
  DB2 Extended Security will work with a group name with a
  character '.' in it.
