JR32750: DB2 INSTANCE MIGHT CRASH WHEN EXECUTING A CERTAIN SQL QUERY IN AN SMP ENVIRONMENT

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • DB2 instance might crash with SEGV when executing a certain SQL
query. The crash only occurs in an SMP enabled environment and
the stack traces should be similar to the following:

sqldAdjustSeqDetPFAmount
sqlriNljnAdjustPfAmount
sqlriNljnNonPiped
sqlriSectInvoke
....

Local fix

  • Turn off SMP by setting DBM configuration parameter
INTRA_PARALLEL to OFF

* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
* The workaround is to turn off SMP by setting DBM             *
* configuration parameter INTRA_PARALLEL to OFF                *

Problem conclusion

  • Problem was first fixed in Version V9.1 Fix Pack 8

Temporary fix

  • turn off SMP by setting DBM configuration parameter
INTRA_PARALLEL to OFF
