Error description

  • Server job with InterProcess Row Buffering enabled will produce
a core if customer does a reset in DS Director after it has
aborted. But if customer waits for about 30 minutes and reset,
    it resets without any issues.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Reseting a server job, with inter-process row buffering and
long timeout value, after an abort occurred but before the IPC
    timeout has elapsed.
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A server job that uses inter-process row buffering with a long
timeout value e.g. 5 mins had aborted. If the job was reset
within the timeout period it could core dump.
    ****************************************************************
    RECOMMENDATION:
    apply the patch
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • some of the work processes associated with the aborted job run
were still running and accessing the shared memory files when
the reset was attempted and this caused the core dump.
patch is available that ensures that all work processes
    terminate in a timely manner
