Error description

  • - Performance degradation might be observed on Win32/Win64
    machines during a database deactivation.
    - db2 takes the time for sqloFreeMemChunks.
    
    Similar to the following may be seen in db2traces:-
    
    sqloFreeMemChunks exit
    sqloFreeMemChunks entry
    | SMemSet::returnContiguousChunks entry
    | SMemSet::returnContiguousChunks exit
    
    The db2trace with -perfcount is shows "sqloFreeMemChunks" takes
    more time and it causes performance degradation.

Local fix

  • If you are not using STMM, try setting the
    DB2_ALLOCATION_SIZE registry variable to 8MB.
    
    db2set DB2_ALLOCATION_SIZE=8388608
