Closed as program error.
When v9.5 DB2 is installed on some windows systems, the following error might occurr in the installation log during DB2 instance configuration: Action 15:04:05: DB2CustomAction. Configuring DB2 instances 1: ERROR:'C:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. 1: The value "SVCENAME=db2c_DB2" was set in the DBM CFG file for the "DB2" instance. 1: ERROR:DB2-0 : The service has returned a service-specific error code. In some cases a popup window may appear near the end of installation. Invalid Command Switch ----------------------- Usage: -u to Unregister, -r to Register The causes of this problem are: 1) There are space(s) in the install path, e.g. "c:\Program Files\IBM\DB2", which is the default path. 2) The DB2 install path is converted into a short path by the install function, eg, c:\Progr~1\IBM\DB2, which does not contain any space. This usually works correctly, but does not work on some machines. 3) The Text Search component is selected to be installed, 4) When the DB2 instance is configured, the command line to configure Text Search service is not contained by quotes, just depending on the short path. Thus, when the command line is executed on the machines that the short path can not be converted correctly, that command line becomes an invalid command, which is broken by the space, eg. the command line becomes "C:\Program".
1) Install DB2 to a directory which does not contain spaces. OR 2) Do not install TextSearch feature if you do not need to use it.
See ERROR DESCRIPTION.
Problem was first fixed in version 9.5 FixPak 5 (s091123). At minimum the fix should be applied to the server.
