Error description

  • The DataStage Designer client will be unable to create a folder
or edit any object when connected to a server that is running on
the Z linux (Redhat or Suse) platform. Specifically, this
affects installations where the services tier (WebSphere
Application Server) is installed on Z Linux.

USERS AFFECTED:
DataStage running with services tier installed on Red Hat on
System Z, SUSE on System Z, or HP-UX on PA-RISC.
****************************************************************
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
User is unable to create folders, edit jobs, or perform other
editing actions within the Designer. Typical error messages
displayed include: "Unable to rename item", "Unable to
create new folder", "Unable to delete item(s)", "Cannot
find job ROOT", "Unable to load Rid", "Unable to save
EditServ.impl.JobDefnImpl@####".

Additionally, the WebSphere log SystemOut.log contains the
following error message:

[3/12/09 13:11:17:478 EDT] 00000011 SystemOut   O 2009-03-12
13:11:17,478 ERROR repository.RepositoryServiceSupport - There
is a mis-match between the code on the client and the code on
the server. Please ensure that patch JR32186 (or later) is
installed on the client machine.

RECOMMENDATION:
Install patch JR32186 on the DataStage client machines. This
patch provides updated jars to communicate with the services
tier on zLinux.
