Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    Client systems with the 8.0.1 FP1 version of the Multi-Client
    Manager installed, which is being used to switch between 8.0.1
    and 7.5.x
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    When switching between 7.5.x and 8.0.1, some registry entries
    are corrupted.
         If the Microsoft .NET
    framework 3.0 is installed, an error    message is also
    displayed when starting the 7.5.x DataStage Designer.  The
    error message shows an intelligent assistant callstack.

    RECOMMENDATION:
    Install the updated version of the Multi-Client Manager.
    This change is included in 8.1 Fix Pack 1.

Problem conclusion

  • The Multi-Client Manager shipped with 8.0.1 FP1 corrupts some
    registries entries.  Under certain circumstances this
    corruptioncauses an error message to be displayed.
    
     A patched version of the Multi-Client Manager prevents
    this  corruption from occurring and manual steps in the patch
    read me describes how to correct existing corruption.
