Error description

  • [Question]
Could you please tell me why the table definition used for CFF
(Complex Flat File) Stage is not displayed in "Relationship" of
DataStage Usage Analysis on DataStage Manager?

    [Step]
    1. create a simple job
       CFF->Transformer->Seq. File

    2. Load a table definition on CFF Stage.
    3. then save the job after loading a table definition for CFF
    Stage.
    4. Open DataStage Manager and select the table definition.
    5. Try to open "Usage Analysis"

There is no entry in "Relationship" in this case.
But if the job is Seq.File (change only here) -> Transformer ->
    Seq.File.,
the table definition used by Seq. File is displayed in Usage
    Analysis.

Problem conclusion

  • The Complex Flat File stage fails to set some attributes of the
columns when it loads them from the repository. These
attributes are used to derive the usage analysis information.
If these attributes are set correctly, the usage analysis will
    then function as expected.
