Error description

  • Problem Description:

When using the Data Model Import or Export wizard in Rational Da
ta Architect v 7.5 you are unable to produce the transformed mod
el due to the error 'Cannot start the Java Virtual Machine. Chec
    k your CLASSPATH'.

    Steps to Reproduce:

When using one of the following wizards:

File ? Export ? Data Model Export Wizard
File ? Import ? Data Model Import Wizard

in Rational Data Architect v. 7.5, you may see the error:

?ERROR? [JBDG_F0003] Cannot start the Java Virtual Machine. Chec
    k your CLASSPATH

    Cause:

This error is typically due to the content of the configuration
file of the MetaIntegrations bridge that does not match the new
    installation directory of version 7.5.

    Expected Results:

During installation the file MIRSetup.xml is updated with the ac
    tual installation directory.

    Workaround:

Using a Text editor, open the file:

    MIRSetup.xml

    which is typically located in:

    ?SDPShared?\plugins\com.ibm.datatools.metadata.wizards.miti.win3
    2_?version?\MetaIntegration\conf

    where:

    ?SDPShared?=C:\Program Files\IBM\SDPShared

is the Installation Manager shared directory and:

    ?version?=1.0.0.v200809130500

is the version of the bridge used by Rational Data Architect 7.
    5.
Identify the snippet that defines the location of the Java Virtu
    al Machine:

            ?!--
Purpose: Java Run Time Environment (JRE or JDK)
            --?
            ?RunTime?
                ?!--
                Purpose: JRE or JDK Executable
                Value: Executable Full Path (Mandatory)
e.g. javaw or java in debug mode
                Win32 e.g. C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0\bin\javaw.
    exe
                Unix e.g. /usr/lib/jre1.5.0/bin/java
                --?
                ?Executable?..\..\..\..\..\SDP\jdk\jre\bin\javaw.exe
    ?/Executable?

                ?!--
Purpose: JRE or JDK execution Options
Value: Run time option string (optional)
Default: '-Xmx256m' to allocate more memory
                --?
                ?Options??/Options?
            ?/RunTime?

Change the value of the ?Executable? tag so that it matches the
full path of the installed Java Virtual Machine of Rational Data
     Architect 7.5, typically:

            ?!--
Purpose: Java Run Time Environment (JRE or JDK)
            --?
            ?RunTime?
                ?!--
                Purpose: JRE or JDK Executable
                Value: Executable Full Path (Mandatory)
e.g. javaw or java in debug mode
                Win32 e.g. C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0\bin\javaw.
    exe
                Unix e.g. /usr/lib/jre1.5.0/bin/java
                --?

    xe?/Executable?

                ?!--
Purpose: JRE or JDK execution Options
Value: Run time option string (optional)
Default: '-Xmx256m' to allocate more memory
                --?
                ?Options??/Options?
            ?/RunTime?
