Error description

  • A test ODBC connection may fail through the ODBC data source
administrator on Windows if you are using the DB2 CLI keywords
DATABASE, HOSTNAME, SERVICENAME and PORT, and the DATABASE name
    is larger than 8 characters.
    .
The typical errors are SQL0102N or SQL30061N.
    .
The problem is more likely against a DB2 for z/OS database, as
that server supports database names longer than 8 characters.
    .
The problem can occur against any database server that supports
database names larger than 8 characters. This includes
    DB2 for z/OS v8 and v9 or DB2 for iSeries.

Local fix

  • Catalog both a database and DCS entry so that a database name
larger than 8 characters can be specified. If using this
approach you will need to use the CLI keyword DBALIAS instead of
DATABASE, HOSTNAME, SERVICENAME and PORT, so that the database
and DCS catalog entries will be used by ODBC.
